The Ely Chapter of LAI Chicago

Lynsey serves as chapter President for the 2022 and 2023 terms. She is proud to be a member of Lambda Alpha International, the Honorary Society for the Advancement of Land Economics. LAI was founded in 1930 and provides a forum for the study and advancement of land economics where the “winnowing and sifting” of ideas takes place in an atmosphere of mutual respect. Her goals include continuing to foster the spirit of intellectual curiosity and expanding opportunities for professional development whilst increasing chapter relevance through diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives. The chapter must acknowledge the role members have played in policy and opinion-shaping historically but have its eyes firmly trained on the future and the positive impact the society can have on the built environment.

The 2018/9 program, under Lynsey's leadership, was titled Bridging the Hope Gap, and the society explored how it can create greater equity and broader inclusion in the field and practice of land economics. Building on these efforts the 2019/20 theme was titled Big Shoulders, Big Ideas and the society investigated the how and why large scale-projects and plans are put into practice in the Chicago-land region.

Chicago Scots

She may live in Chicago, but her heart is in Scotland. Being invited in 2018 to serve on the Board of the Chicago Scots and the Illinois Saint Andrews society is a great honour. Illinois' oldest registered charity works to nourish Scottish identity through service, fellowship and the celebration of Scottish culture for the purpose of supporting the Caledonian Senior Living and Memory Care campus in North Riverside, Illinois.
